We’re looking for an influential and experienced leader with proven experience of managing services, budgets and contract requirements over a large geographical area, to join us as a Hub Manager.

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change — with individuals, in communities, across society – and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

Shelter Hubs are flagships of excellence – offering a wide range of services working closely with, and respected in, the local community. Shelter’s London Hub offers anyone in housing need a prompt, personalised service that tackles all elements of their problem, including root causes, in a joined-up way. This post covers services on a pan-London basis from Shelter premises in Hackney, Islington and Newham and from community locations across the capital: you will be based in either Islington or Hackney. Hubs go beyond delivering short-term solutions to achieve lasting change for our clients.

About the Role

As Hub Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver consistently high quality Shelter services in the area, focusing on good customer care and effective outcomes for clients. You will be accountable for the performance of all staff and services, ensuring that all contract and organisational targets are met or exceeded and identifying and implementing remedial action. You will also support the development of effective external and internal partnerships, building excellent professional relationships and contributing to the strategic development of Shelter services.

Driving and managing the ongoing growth of the Hub and managing its budget are also vital aspects of the role, as is engaging and influencing key stakeholders, commissioners and services to promote the service to the wider community and ensuring the Hub is meeting identified local needs.

About you

You will have a proven track record delivering large contracts in a highly complex and regulated environment, driving efficiency and improving service effectiveness, plus experience operating at a senior level with an external audience, engaging and influencing a variety of stakeholders.

Professional, flexible and proactive, you must be an outstanding collaborator and communicator, and possess impressive networking, interpersonal and relationship-building capabilities.

We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
