More Information

Principal Officer - Regulation

We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and motivated individual to join us within the council’s Commercial Regulatory Team within the Regulation and Enforcement Service

North East Lincolnshire has easy access to the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside and excellent affordable housing. We have one of the best stretches of coastline in the country, centred on the seaside resort of Cleethorpes and thriving towns of Grimsby and Immingham. The cost of living is low and we can also offer superb education facilities.

As our Principal Officer - Regulation, you will provide a strategic and operational lead role for a small multidisciplinary team covering a range of statutory regulatory functions in the fields of environmental health and trading standards including food safety and standards, infectious disease control, health & safety, fair trading, weights & measures, counterfeit and illicit goods and financial exploitation.

You will have detailed specialist knowledge of at least one of these areas of work.

You will also have a lead role in the team's commercialisation agenda through exploring opportunities for commercial work and supporting colleagues in the wider Regulation & Enforcement Services in such activities. You may also be required to help support service delivery within the busy Port Health section of the team.

You will be supported in your role by the Commercial Regulatory Manager and work in conjunction with the Principal Officer - Port Health. The successful applicant will play a lead role in the integration of food safety and standards work within the team and explore other opportunities for more effective regulatory service delivery.

You will hold a degree level or equivalent qualification, accredited by either the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or Chartered Trading Standards Institute and be willing to maintain continuous professional development. A management qualification and supervisory experience would be advantageous.

Interviews will be held w/c 14 October and will consist of a formal interview and a presentation. Closing date 6th October
