SALARY NS11 - £31,371 - £32,878 per annum

This post is ‘politically restricted’ as defined in Section 2(1g) of the

1989 Local Government and Housing Act

Over the last few years the Council has transformed the way it works in response to financial challenges from reducing funding. Rather than just focussing on cutting spending, we have reshaped the organisation to make it more business focussed and introduced different delivery vehicles to deliver efficiencies and improve performance.  By doing so we have created a strong financial position with a flexible and dedicated workforce to deliver to Newark and Sherwood residents the excellent Council services they deserve.

NSDC are committed to building and maintaining a flexible, resilient and responsive workforce, who can support the needs of our residents. We want to attract as wide a pool of talented candidates as possible and, where we can, will offer you flexibility in the way you work. We will consider suggestions for how the responsibilities of the role can be met through working different hours, days or in different locations. We may not be able to offer flexibility in every role, but where we can, we are happy to discuss options with you at interview.

Reporting to the Assistant Business Manager - Financial Services, you will be responsible for all Financial Services work for one or more of the Council’s service areas. This will include budget setting and monitoring, assisting with the preparation of the council’s annual Statement of Accounts and supporting with the wider activities of the Financial Services section.

Preferably CCAB-qualified, it is essential that you have experience of working in local government finance. You will have good numerical skills and be highly PC literate. You will be able to prioritise workloads whilst meeting strict deadlines, work with minimal supervision and communicate financial information to all levels of staff.

For further information or an informal discussion, please contact Nick Wilson on 01636 655317 or Mohammed Sarodia on 01636 655537.

Applications must be received by 12 noon on Friday 29 November 2019

Interviews will be held on Monday 16 December 2019
