We’re looking for a client-focused individual with recent experience of providing person-centred support to vulnerable people to join us as a Senior Support Worker and help people with multiple complex needs to secure accommodation.
Operating out of our North East Hub in Newcastle, the Housing First project aims to place vulnerable people into stable, independent accommodation and help them maintain their tenancy. Each tenancy will be underpinned with persistent and assertive wraparound support.
About the role
Your challenge will be to build relationships with a caseload of people with multiple complex needs in order to engage them with Housing First services. Together, you’ll then develop co-produced, outcome-focused support plans that reflect each individual’s personal strengths and goals. We’ll also rely on you to co-ordinate interventions provided by other agencies to make sure the right support is provided at the right time, and to develop relationships with landlords to secure accommodation options. Motivating and leading the Housing First delivery team, ensuring the service adheres to our quality standards and meets required contract outcomes and adopting and modelling best practice – all are aspects of this vital role.
You’ll need experience of managing staff and volunteers and providing support services to people with multiple and complex needs and a good understanding of the issues they face. Knowledge of the key principles of the Housing First model and how to use provisions available within housing and homeless legislation to secure accommodation is important too. Used to working within a safeguarding framework, you have a forward thinking, calm and organised but flexible approach, plus a willingness to actively contribute new ideas and approaches to improve service delivery. You’ll also have the confidence to attend meetings to promote this new service locally. Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and a case management system is also required.
