Fixed Term Contract ending 31st October 2020
Do you have an understanding of drugs and alcohol and health related issues, the Recovery Agenda and experience of working with adults or young people in an addictions or social care setting? Would you like to be part of an organisation that counts on the professionalism, insight, expertise and passion of its staff to inspire individual recovery for the people they work with? Then join us as a Practitioner.
Right now, one of our partners, Aquarius Action Projects, is looking for a Practitioner to join their Derby Family Safeguarding Service. Based in the East Midlands, Aquarius helps people overcome the harm caused by alcohol, drugs and gambling working closely with individuals, family and friends. But it’s only possible with the help of people like you.
Your challenge? – To provide advice, assessments, structured interventions and groups programmes to support clients through treatment who have both drug and alcohol problems. You will hold a case load of clients where there are child safeguarding concerns which are linked with parental substance misuse.
You will be conducting assessments, risk assessments and working directly with other services such as primary care, social care and others. The main aim is to work closely with treatment keyworkers and deliver interventions targeted at reducing the risk of parental substance misuse on children. A lot of the work is delivered within the home environment so there will be an element of travelling round the city centre and lone working. The successful candidate must have exceptional organisational skills and the ability to work with other agencies both face to face, email and via telephone. There is also a requirement to write comprehensive reports for child protection conferences and attendance of numerous safeguarding meetings. Ideally the successful candidate needs to have an understanding of safeguarding processes and safeguarding thresholds.
An energetic and confident self-starter, you will be required to hold a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we’ll consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse field with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care. As well as good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health related issues, you will be used to liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals and comfortable engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings. You will have a flexible approach, a commitment to the principles of confidentiality, excellent record keeping and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Closing Date: 5th November 2019
Interviews will be held on: 7th November 2019
