Independent Conference and Reviewing Manager

 We are pleased to offer you an exciting opportunity to join Halton’s Safeguarding Unit

The Safeguarding Unit is responsible for the chairing of Child Protection Conferences, Children In Care Reviews (including those children with disabilities who have periods away from home), Pre-Adoption Reviews, Secure Reviews and LADO Strategy Meetings. Care Planning for Children in Care is our passion in Halton and achieving the Best Outcomes for Children is at the core of our practice. We are committed to ensuring best practice through the engagement of children and their families and effective partnership working. This includes promoting the involvement of children and families in the conference and review process making sure their views are fully represented in planning and decision making. Support is provided by the Lead Independent Conference and Reviewing Manager, an experienced team of Independent Reviewing Officers, and Business Support.


You will need to have an appropriate professional social work qualification e.g. Degree in Social Work or CQSW, Diploma Social Work and HCPC registration and must be 5 years post qualified with some managerial/supervisory experience. You should have substantial and demonstrable experience as a Senior Practitioner or Team Manager in Children and Families work including undertaking interagency work and chairing meetings of a challenging nature. You must have experience of undertaking risk assessments, core assessments and care planning processes. Experience of communicating effectively with children and young people is essential as is having the confidence and ability to work constructively with senior managers by offering critical perspective and appropriate challenge. In addition you will have an in depth knowledge of current legislation, current practice issues, policies, procedures and guidance relating to children, their families and the safeguarding and looked after processes. You must also have a current driving license and access to a car, or means to mobility support. This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service.
