Lancaster City Council are pleased to offer a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to progress their planning career in the Council’s Development Management team.
The postholder will gain valuable experience of determining minor and small-scale major planning applications, heritage related applications and enforcement matters throughout the Lancaster District.
The successful candidate must have relevant Development Management experience, have working knowledge of relevant planning legislation, procedures and policies, be a strong communicator, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Candidates will need an appropriate planning degree or equivalent and be a full member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, or working towards being full membership.
The post is based at Morecambe Town Hall and the hours of work are 22.2 hours per week, working over 3 or 4 days. The Council currently operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to Travel around the district. Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability.
Earlier this year Lancaster City Council unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.
