Senior Environmental Health Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Uttlesford District Council for a Senior Environmental Health Officer working within our Commercial Section. The post will report directly to the Environment Health Manager (Commercial) and will be responsible for leading a small but dedicated team of Environmental Health Officers and Technical Officers. 


Also acting as the lead officer for both food and health and safety you must be organised, dedicated, highly motivated and passionate about what you do as well as being willing to embrace new ways of working, inspire your team and support them in collectively striving to achieve a truly excellent standard of service. 


You must have proven management / supervisory experience and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels to provide advice and guidance to the public, business operators and elected members. There may also be the opportunity to become involved in duties relating to the control of imported food at Stansted Airport.

You must be proficient using IT systems and having a working knowledge of Uniform, DMS and Enterprise would be a distinct advantage. 


To apply for this role, you must hold a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health, be EHRB registered and meet competencies relating to the inspection of both food establishments and food as specified by Food Law Code of Practice. You must also, have excellent communication skills, have a flexible approach and work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative. A full driving licence and access to a car available for work is essential. There may be a requirement for some out of hours working.
