Control Room Team Leader

The Council is set in a major tourism area with tourist attractions including Windsor Castle, Legoland and Ascot Racecourse and with the Royal Family on the doorstep, this is a good place to live and work. There are excellent transport connections to London and the West of England, with the new Elizabeth Line opening in Maidenhead in 2021.

The Royal Borough’s CCTV system is coming to the end of a significant upgrade project.

You will be responsible for the management of the Council’s Control Room which supports the Council’s out of hours’ service, emergency planning response and site security.

The Control Room operates on a 24/7, 365 days a year basis. You will be required to work flexibly to ensure adequate face-to-face contact with all members of the team. You will line manage the Control Room Operators and deliver a suitable rota to ensure that sufficient staff cover is maintained. You will ensure that the Control Room operates in accordance with its ‘Code of Practice’ and Procedures Manual which you shall maintain and update as necessary.

Ideally you will have experience of managing a CCTV Control Room.

You will be dealing with officers from all Directorates in person, by telephone and by radio. You will also have contact with members of the public by telephone and police officers personally, by radio and by telephone.

You will also have contact with Elected Members of the Council, with officers and Members from other local authorities, with participants in Community Radio schemes and visitors to the Control Room from various organisations.

You must have exemplary communication, observational and concentration skills and be able to cope with stressful situations. You will undertake all necessary associated administrative tasks relating to the role.

You will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and will be required to obtain Security Check and Non-Police Personal Vetting Clearance. You must also be willing to be trained to obtain a Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence (or have already done so).
