Private Sector Housing Manager

We are looking for a highly-skilled manager to lead our Private Sector Housing teams. As a key member of the Council’s Housing Leadership Team, you will be responsible for driving up standards in local housing stock for the benefit of Woking and its residents.

You will have the ability to lead our committed Private Sector Housing teams working towards this objective and to provide an excellent service to customers. You will also apply your excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to strengthening relationships with private landlords and letting agencies to help meet housing need in the Borough. This will include developing initiatives to increase the supply of privately rented accommodation, particularly through the Council’s “Let’s Rent” service.

The Council offers in return a generous flexi time scheme with the ability to take two flexi days a month, membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits.

Under the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009, this post is politically restricted and you will be disqualified from being a Councillor, Member of Parliament or Member of the European Parliament. The regulations restrict the post holder from undertaking canvassing on behalf of a political party or a person who is or seeks to be a candidate or speaking to the public at large or publishing any written or artistic work that could give the impression that they are advocating support for a political party.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Louise Strongitharm (Director of Housing) on 01483 743599.

Interview Date: Thursday 16th January 2020 (may be subject to change)
