About the role
The Accountancy Assistant will assist our Financial Services Team to deliver the Council’s budget setting, budget monitoring, year-end closure processes and the production of the statement of accounts, including maintaining the Fixed Asset Register and will report to the Chief Accountant.
They will assist in delivering high quality and timely financial and information to colleagues, officers and councillors. They will also ensure that any information that is requested is provided on a timely basis and is of good quality.
The Financial Services Team uses matrix management to achieve its objectives, and so, this post would, at times, be directed by any or all of the officers within the Financial Services Team, in consultation with the Financial Services Manager and the Chief Accountant.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-starter, with a ‘can do’ attitude to support colleagues, along with a high degree of tenacity and the ability to deliver high workloads within tight timescales.
You will need to have good interpersonal skills, intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and basic Microsoft Word skills.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a strong contribution to the Financial Services Team over the coming years.

Hours worked: 29.6 hours, 4 days a week from Monday to Thursday
