Do you want to be involved in projects across an ambitious Local Authority? Do you want to facilitate delivery and ensure projects are managed efficiently and effectively? Can you help continuous improvement of our processes and procedures?
The Project Management Office (PMO), as part of the Chief Executive’s Office, is driving a Project Management approach across the organisation to support, monitor and report on the progress of projects within the Council’s Project Portfolio to deliver our strategy and business plans.
You will collate and analyse project progress reports in order to maintain visibility of project parameters including timelines and milestones, project progress, risks, costs, resources and dependencies. By having this level of visibility of the portfolio you will help continually improve our project processes and reporting mechanisms, develop related administration processes and support organisational change.
You will be able to work across projects at different lifecycle stages within the Project Portfolio; from facilitating workshops and designing plans to arranging key project meetings, drafting reports and maintaining project information. You will be key to effective communication between project managers, teams and stakeholders; building a community of practice and providing support and guidance.
You will work directly to the Principal Project Manager, work closely with the PMO team and give support to Project Managers across the Council. As such you will be able to communicate with all levels of the organisation. On occasions you may act as Assistant Project Manager and therefore knowledge of project management methodology and application is essential.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office packages are necessary.
In return we offer an excellent benefits and conditions of service package including flexitime and incremental annual leave allowance.
