The North Somerset Shared Lives (also known as the adult placement scheme) recruits and matches carers who share their home with an adult with care needs, who they will enable to become as independent as they can be.
The scheme supports around 100 adults in 50 carer households on both a long- and short-term basis across a range of needs including learning disabilities, mental health problems or a physical and sensory needs. This unique model of service has excellent outcomes and is one of the ways in which North Somerset council will deliver its vision for adult social care by promoting wellbeing by helping people be as independent as possible for as long as possible.
North Somerset shared lives has been rated Good in all areas by the Care Quality commission in our recent inspection in September 2019.
