Democratic Services Officer

Town Hall, Epsom

Would you like to work for a unique local authority?

We are a Residents' Association controlled Council which operates a committee system of decision-making.  We are looking for the right person to join our busy team.

About the Role

The role is varied and often challenging. You will be at the centre of the Council's democratic processes through the administration of its committees and organising elections, ensuring open, legal and transparent decision-making.

Confident with people, you will be expected to:

  • Support our committee services role function by organising and servicing Council committee meetings
  • Provide support and guidance to elected members
  • Assist with the delivery of the elections processes.

About You

The key attributes necessary for this post are that you are organised, have good communication skills, and are able to work to deadlines. Experience of servicing meetings or equivalent general administrative experience is essential as is the ability to be comfortable working with IT systems. You will also need to be able need to work evenings as almost all Council meetings start at 7.30pm. This job is not suitable for part time working.
