Housing Solutions Officer

The Department:-
The Housing Service department have an opportunity for a Housing Solutions Officer to join the team that has recently achieved the NPSS Bronze Award and continues to progress.

The Role:-
The Housing Solutions Officer will assist in managing demand for the council’s housing services while offering advice and support to members of the public.

The successful candidate will triage online housing applications, including the housing register, the type of advice required and cases of homelessness. The Housing Solutions Officer will liaise with customers to ensure applications are completed and the necessary documentation is provided.

An instrumental element of the role will involve managing client expectations and building trusting relationships.

There will be a requirement to make home visits in respect of households who present to the council with a housing need.

What we are looking for:-

- An ability to demonstrate a high standard of customer service skills
- Excellent communication, negotiations and persuasion skills to effectively engage with a range of stakeholders on a daily basis
- The ability to manage client relationships, building effective rapport
- A can do attitude towards problem solving will be evident
- An understanding of Choice Based Lettings and the council’s Housing Nominations Policy
- A basic understanding of housing and homeless legislation
- Competent with IT systems including Microsoft Office
