We are looking for an experienced web content specialist to help make accessing council services easier for our customers and staff.

Reporting to the web and intranet development manager, you will be joining the council at an exciting time.  Our new Think Digital strategy forms part of a wider programme of modernisation across all our services in which you would play a key role, including close involvement with the development and launch of a new staff intranet, and reviewing our web content to encourage online transactions.

You will need to have demonstrated a sound understanding of customer journeys and information architecture, with a proven ability to organise web content in a way that enables intuitive navigation. You will also need to be an excellent communicator and able to edit sometimes complex content in a way that makes it more accessible.

Alongside this you will have also worked extensively with at least one content management system and demonstrated a flair for creating high quality, engaging content, combining an understanding of using systems effectively, creatively, and with an attention to detail.

You will work collaboratively across the council, building positive working relationships with front facing teams, as well as senior management. Sometimes you will be required to challenge existing views and approaches to ensure that our content meets our customers’ needs.

As a first and main point of contact for many customers, making our online services fully accessible is vital to our future. You will need to have a working knowledge of current requirements regarding online content, helping us to deliver on the recommendations from a recent accessibility audit and our obligation to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.

If you would like to discuss the role further, please contact Lucy Ellis, 01707 357214, or Thom Burn, 01707 357245.

Closing date for applications is 23 February 2020.

Assessment and interviews will be held on 5 and 6 March 2020.
