(scp 3-4; £18,065 - £18,426 per annum pro-rata)

Birkdale High School is a popular and successful all-boys 11-16 comprehensive Academy with an excellent reputation, outstanding pastoral care and consistently above national average academic results.

The school has seen its numbers rise over the last few years and is now oversubscribed.

At Birkdale we aim to be leaders in the education of boys and this starts with a clear focus on developing effective teaching pedagogy and not engaging in educational fads or gimmicks. Our development is driven by a focus on cognitive science and educational research and our quality assurance of teaching is developmental rather than judgemental.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a dynamic and committed person to join our SEND department, who specialises in supporting pupils with ADHD. This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and inclusive school and make a genuine and significant difference to the lives of children. The successful candidate will work within the SEND department supporting individuals in class or in our Learning Hub

The successful candidate is required to start as soon as possible. The appointment is temporary until the end of the summer term, in the first instance, but could lead to a permanent position.

Further details and an application form can be downloaded from or obtained from Ms Karen Anslow at the school.

Completed application forms should be emailed to: by 12.00pm on Monday 24 February 2020.
