Deputy Head of Service - Integrated Learning Disability Service - Adult Services

The Integrated Learning Disability Service seeks to achieve the very best outcomes for people with learning disabilities by supporting them to achieve their full potential and fulfil their aspirations. The service supports people with a learning disability across the London Borough of Hackney, as well as those in the City in relation to their health needs.

As the Deputy Head of Service within Hackney Integrated Learning Disability Service, you will be key to ensuring that a high quality service is offered to disabled people and their families. You will lead a newly formed service of team managers, social workers employed by London Borough of Hackney and health professionals employed by East London Foundation Trust.

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Deputy Head of Service to oversee operational management across the pathways within the service. These pathways support young people in transition, support people with dual diagnosis and also manage referral, review and complex cases.

The Deputy Head of ILDS will offer support to the Head of Service and will support the strategic and operational management of the learning disabilities service.

You will have experience of working with people with a learning disability and mental health needs and of managing teams, ideally in a multi-disciplinary setting. Applicants will have a sound knowledge of the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act and of the Transforming Care programme, as well as SEND legislation and CQC requirements in relation to NHS Services.

A commitment to integrated working across health and social care is essential.

We are looking for a Deputy Head of Service who can lead by example and we will offer you the support to manage and lead your team to meet the highest standards of performance. You need to be committed to person centred working and an ethos of co-production. You will help shape our ‘Strengths Based Practice Approach’ in the service and be responsible for service development and improvement.


You will need to have a Social Work or relevant health qualification and be registered with HCPC with substantial post qualification experience within a social care or health setting.

If you are from a healthcare background, you will be paid according to NHS pay scales and will remain an NHS employee.  Social care candidates will be employed by the local authority and paid under social care pay scales.

An enhanced DBS check is required.
