At Essex County Council, what we do impacts the lives of over 1.4 million residents. We work hard to meet our residents’ needs – from protecting vulnerable children, to helping older residents remain independent; from improving quality of life through better public health, to unlocking economic opportunities across our towns and cities. We need to take decisions based on high-quality insights and be disciplined in the way we track our progress and performance. Our brand-new Performance & Business Intelligence group will help us do this and so much more.
Turning data and management information into business-critical insights is a complex process. As Business Intelligence Analyst, you’ll be the go-to professional in this space. Working alongside one of the council’s key business areas – Adult Social Care, Children Services or Place & Public Health - you’ll take a deep dive into the data, working with stakeholders, analysts, and developers, to build a compelling picture that commands the attention of senior leaders.
You’ll use a range of analytical techniques, on qualitative and quantitative sources, to provide high-quality findings to the council’s senior leaders. You’ll work with colleagues to make clear recommendations on action that will directly improve the lives of local people.
This will mean understanding our organisation, processes, data and priorities, and using that knowledge to creatively present conclusions that enable key decision makers to understand current and future needs, demands and trends.
In return, you can look forward to an excellent rewards package, as well as flexible working and long-term career opportunities.
Knowledge, skills and experience
We’re looking for a professional who can really make an impact. You’ll need experience and knowledge of a range of quantitative and qualitative analytical tools, plus a proven track record of producing recommendations that inspire improvements. Experience in a field relevant to one of the council’s key functions – social care, children’s services, place and public health – would be an advantage.
