Building Control Surveyor

Are you looking to further your career in Local Authority Building Control? Or perhaps you are working in another field of construction/property surveying/maintenance or hold a construction related degree and are looking for an opportunity to join a thriving Local Authority Building Control Team?

The Southern Building Control Partnership is a 20-strong team employed by Tandridge District Council to deliver the Building Control service of its residents and businesses and those of Mole Valley District and Reigate & Banstead Borough councils.

Our Partnership holds the UKAS accredited LABC ISO 9001 Certification in Quality Management and has a strong track record of providing the highest level of independent, professional advice to all our service users. We regularly nominate some of the best projects we are involved in to the annual LABC SE Award - showcasing the standard of design and build in our area and the strong working relationships we have built with local architects and builders. We work closely with our Partners, LABC Warranty and LABC Consult enabling us to offer a full suite of developer services alongside our own inhouse structural checking service.

Joining us as an Assistant Building Control Surveyor you will be part of a thriving Local Authority Shared Service where you will continue to progress your career and Professional Development as you work towards your qualification as a Building Control Surveyor and membership of a professional body such as CABE or RICS. Mentored by one of our Senior Building Control Surveyors and supported by the entire team, you will work across the Partnership’s geographical area using the latest cloud-based technology.

You will have experience in Local Authority Building Control or in the construction or property maintenance sector and may already be studying towards or recently graduated in a related degree.  

You will have:

  • An ability to understand technical plans
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Have an eye for detail.
  • Be committed to the continuous learning required within Local Authority Building Control
