Occupational Therapist

West Berkshire Council has an opportunity for a full time 25 hours per week HCPC registered Occupational Therapists to join our friendly and supportive Central team. We are a small Local Authority with a mixture of urban and rural communities which offers great variety and positive challenges.   West Berkshire Council is embracing a new way of working with a strong focus on localities and strengths based approach to the people that we work with.

The Occupational Therapist will be working collaboratively with the Social Workers and Social Care Practitioners in a small team to identify ways to manage the needs of adults who need care and support in the community. The work is very varied and will involve working with adults with a wide range of needs and disabilities.

Skills in moving and positioning assessments and knowledge of seating solutions are essential to enable the people to maintain their independence and safety at home. Our Occupational Therapists also advise on adaptations to property and equipment provision and provide training to informal carers and care agency staff.

It will be important to work with both external partners (e.g. Health, Voluntary Sector) and internal partners (e.g. Housing, Safeguarding).

West Berkshire benefits include:

  • Monthly professional supervision.
  • Monthly CPD activities.
  • Monthly informal moving and positioning sessions.
  • Funded study days.
  • Flexible working hours and the opportunity to work from home (laptop and blackberry provided).
  • Relevant training provided.

We are ideally looking to offer the successful candidate the full number of hours advertised above. We may however consider offering less hours than advertised providing they meet the requirements of the role and service which will be determined by the recruiting manager.

This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.

West Berkshire Council offer excellent employment benefits such as flexible working, access to a wide range of relevant training, local government pension scheme, family friendly policies, a range of local discounts and much more. You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement of 28 days per annum rising to a maximum of 33 days.

For an informal chat about the role, please contact Sarah Ash or Sarah Peebles on 01635 292189 for further details
