Strategic Transformation Lead

About Us:

Working as part of Children’s Services will provide a challenging and rewarding career. We have high ambitions for the children and young people of Kensington and Chelsea.

We have formed a bi-borough Children’s Services team with colleagues from Westminster City Council. Our services, which include education, family services and safeguarding, have been rated Outstanding by Ofsted, and our drive to be the best doesn’t stop there.

By working with us, you will have the opportunity to make a difference to young people in one of the world’s most diverse cities.

If you would like to play a part in this unique team, please take a look at the vacancies below.

The Role:

Since April 2018 Westminster City Council and Kensington & Chelsea Council have been sharing their services across Children’s, Adult and Public Health. In doing this, we have the highest ambitions to deliver the very best for our children and young people.

Our Transformation and Innovation team is at the heart of driving our ambitions forward, acting as an engine room for change across our internal and commissioned services and with our partners. Our varied work programme spans the whole of children’s services – from models of support in the early years to specialist services for children with SEND and our partnerships with schools. We have a strong service design ethos and collaboration and co-design are the foundations of the way we work to tackle these complex challenges.

We are currently recruiting a Strategic Transformation Lead with the passion and service design expertise to help drive forward our change programme. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to make a real difference in supporting two of the most diverse and densely populated boroughs in London. Leading a portfolio of service design projects and programmes – you will be responsible for working collaboratively with leaders and practitioners to identify and implement innovative ways to optimise value for money and deliver excellence.

About You:

The successful candidate will be a passionate about improving the lives of young people and families in our boroughs.

You will have a track records of successfully leading major transformation programmes (preferably in a children’s or adult services context).

With both strong analytical and creative skills, you will be confident in your ability to inspire and motivate change and to demonstrate the resilience and tenacity to make ideas a reality.

Role Requirements:

The Strategic Transformation Lead is responsible for the end-to-end strategic direction and delivery of transformation, innovation and service development activity across Children’s Services.

To provide senior programme leadership across a portfolio of transformation and innovation projects and lead cross-functional project teams to ensure the delivery of improved service outcomes, value for money and financial savings.

To ensure that transformation and innovation activity provides bespoke and sovereign solutions that reflects local needs and drivers.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.

We will primarily contact candidates by e-mail throughout the recruitment process, please monitor your email junk / spam folder as our system generated emails may be allocated to these folders by your email settings.

We engage our staff with a variety of learning types including face-to-face and virtual learning because we want to ensure our staff understand our values and behaviours, grow their skills and develop their careers.

We are committed to promoting equality and respecting diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

We are a Disability Confident Employer – committed to ensuring that our recruitment and selection process is inclusive and accessible.

Closing date: 5 April 2020
