Role Purpose

The role isto allow the performance of Permitting for Streetworks function inHighways and Transportation Service. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of ateam delivering the Network Management Duty requirement for the Council. Youwill play an important role in making sure that road works and street worksactivities are undertaken with full regard to the Traffic Management Act 2004,New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) 1991 and the London Permit scheme.

Key Responsibilities

Ideally you will haveextensive knowledge and experience of working within a Street Works background.You will work as part of a team of officers responsible for upholding TowerHamlets Network Management Duty in accordance with NRSWA 1991, TMA 2004 &Road Traffic & Regulation Act 1984.

Your role will primarily involve co-ordinationof all Street Works activity, processing road closures & assessing incomingnotice/ permit applications, highways licenses, undertaking road and streetworks site inspections to ensure compliance with permit conditions, recordingof activities and preparation of performance reports.

You will have experience of working in a trafficmanagement environment and have general knowledge in highways.


Because of thetechnical demands of this position, the post holder will require:

Working knowledge ofStreetworks & the permit scheme

Working knowledge ofthe EToN Specification or Street Manager

NRSWA accreditation

Experience of inspecting and monitoring works of statutoryundertakers.

Working knowledge of Construction, CivilEngineering, Traffic Management and reinstatement of Highways.
