Environmental Protection Officer

The Council is set in a major tourism area with tourist attractions including Windsor Castle, Legoland and Ascot Racecourse and with the Royal Family on the doorstep, this is a good place to live and work. There are excellent transport connections to London and the West of England, with the new Elizabeth Line opening in Maidenhead in 2021.

Concentrated on one of the towns of either, Ascot, Windsor or Maidenhead, you will by the Environmental Protection Officer for a defined district and lead on contaminated land. Ideally you will have experience of dealing with arrange of complex contaminated land sites. You will lead on the investigation of all environmental protection complaints in your district and responses to licensing and planning consultations.

Current developments of interest in the Royal Borough include the redevelopment of Maidenhead town centre, Ascot gasworks and the M4 smart motorway upgrade.

Ideally you will have experience of dealing with complex contaminated land sites. You will be responsible to respond to planning consultations and recommend discharge of planning conditions. You will have a varied and detailed technical knowledge of contaminated land in the context of a local authority across residential and industrial re-development. You will also have experience of risk assessments, Phase I, Phase II, RMS and verification reports and in the context of Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
