Who We Are

The Electoral Commission is the independent body that regulates party and election finance, sets standards for well-run elections and encourages people to register to vote.  We have a number of roles and duties under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (PPERA), including the provision of guidance and advice to help Returning Officers (ROs) and their staff in running elections and referendums. 

The Role

To support the Commission’s role in the effective delivery and regulation of elections and referendums across the UK and separately within England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland,  we are recruiting for a Elections Guidance Manager to join our Electoral Administration Guidance team.

As Electoral Guidance Manager, you will play a key part in the development and co-ordination of our guidance and advice on electoral practice issues.  The successful applicant will work closely with the Electoral Registration Guidance Manager to lead an experienced and skilled team in delivering the Commission’s guidance production and management strategy. You will also be responsible for the provision of high quality, consistent and timely advice in response to queries from external sources and to support staff in the Commission’s offices in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and across England.

This is an exciting time to join the Guidance team, with the opportunity to play an important role in the implementation of our new approach for the delivery of the Commission’s guidance which builds on the current suite of resources in delivering modern, accessible and sustainable guidance for the electoral community.

 

Who we are looking for

A strong and organised leader, you will be an experienced team manager with a proven track record of delivering results.  You will have excellent communication skills and be able to build and sustain strong working relationships with key colleagues across the Commission and stakeholders across the electoral community. You will be someone with attention to detail, exceptional judgement and problem solving skills, who is able to manage a busy and varied programme of work to a high standard.
