About the role
Surrey Adult Learning provides a wide range of part-time day, evening and weekend courses to adults.
This is an exciting position creating learning opportunities that improve community engagement, wellbeing and skills for adults. Within the Surrey Adult Learning Arts & Crafts Team we are looking to recruit an Assistant Curriculum Manager to contribute to the continued successful development of our part-time courses and assist with the further development of Distance Learning using G-Suite for Education. The post holder must have an appropriate qualification in Arts, Crafts or Design and an adult teaching certificate or equivalent.
The role includes appointing, supporting, managing and inspiring tutors and technicians to deliver a high quality programme to Ofsted standards. You will also work with centre and Customer Service Team staff and tutors to organise the programme in our Molesey, Sunbury & Esher Adult Learning Centres.
You will have experience of teaching learners in a creative subject and of a formal observation process aligned to Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework. Giving information, advice and guidance to potential learners and working to support learners with additional needs safely in partnership with the Supported Learning Team is part of this role. Experience of Risk Assessment would be an advantage.
You will have excellent written and oral communication skills which you can adjust according to your target audience and be able to use IT confidently. You will need to be able to use your initiative, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
Although this post is based at our Molesey centre, travel within Surrey to our other centres and venues is a necessity so the post- holder will be a required car user. There will be occasional evening and weekend work.
