“Happy to talk flexible working”
About the role and the team
Working as one of 4 in our Business Improvement Team within a friendly and lively ICT Department of 11, the main responsibilities of this role are to
• provide 3rd line application package support, resolving incidents reported and allocated through the ICT Service Desk.
• manage and implement allocated technical work packages, implementing change in accordance with MVDC’s change management processes.
MVDC has benefited from considerable upgrades to its technical infrastructure over the last two years, with around £750K invested in a new CRM application, a hyper converged infrastructure across two data centres, a complete laptop rollout programme to all colleagues, the retirement of Windows Server 2008, and the use of collaborative working technologies such as Microsoft Teams.
These investments have allowed MVDC to focus more on proactive improvements rather than reactive support, and your commitment to identifying and delivering those continuous improvements whilst maintaining excellent performance in existing services is paramount. The investments have also allowed colleagues to continue working from home in a near-normal manner, even in current circumstances.
As well as application support, the role will also involve work on a number of current and upcoming projects, including the continuing enhancement of the existing Firmstep CRM system, and the implementation of new technical solutions for Document Management, for Property Asset Management, and for our Environmental Health team.
You will be an experienced and accomplished Application Support Specialist with demonstrable experience of supporting a range of application packages. As important as your existing technical knowledge will be your ability to learn new skills, and to communicate effectively and empathetically with a wide range of colleague, both business and technical.
You will need to be flexible in your approach, sometimes working out of hours to resolve production issues or implement changes, covering for colleagues, including your Team Leader.
You will also need to take responsibility for the full spectrum of application support issues – as part of a small team the role is unlikely to suit anyone looking for a rigidly structured role with access to other in-house specialist resources (e.g. database administrators).
A working knowledge of ICT Infrastructure to complement your application skills is therefore also needed.
For an informal chat about the role please contact Gary Rose, Business Improvement Team Leader, or Mark Russell, ICT Manager, both on 01306 885001.
Alternatively you can contact HR by email email@example.com
Closing date for applicants: Midday 15 June 2020
Interview dates: 17 – 22 June 2020 (expected to be by video call)
