Harborough District Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Economy & Business Service Manager to manage our Economic Development Service. In particular, to deliver our refreshed Economic Development Strategy 2018-2023 by harnessing the district’s location, potential and talent and the Council’s key corporate priorities and initiaitves, in particular its Smarter Services Programme. We are seeking an experienced manager who understands public sector responsibilities with the proven ability to deliver our ambitions. You will actively support our enthusiastic teams whilst taking advantage of our digital led, customer centred service delivery.
Your most important responsibility is to make sure you and your teams create the conditions to help our businesses thrive and prosper whilst ensuring the District grows and is a great place to live, learn, work, invest and visit.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering economic development and regeneration programmes to support business growth across a variety of sectors in the District. This includes overseeing the management of the Harborough Innovation Centre and our Town Centre Market in Market Harborough, the development and delivery of Economic Master Plans for our towns, providing expert advice pertaining to development and inward investment and bringing together the proposals for external bids for funding.
The successful candidate will hold a degree (or equivalent) in a related field (e.g. Economic Development, Regeneration, Surveying, Planning or Business). You will have extensive experience in the planning, and delivery of regeneration and economic development initiatives, sound financial, project management and partnership working skills and substantial line management experience at a senior level.
You will need to have a valid driving licence, the means to travel around the district and will be expected to work some evenings and weekends. Appointment to this post is subject to a basic DBS check.
