Head of Commercial Investment

Land and Property Services has responsibility for extensive portfolios of operational and non-operational premises, including office buildings, libraries, fire stations, rural land, care homes and many other types of property.  Our diverse service delivers everything Property; designing new buildings, managing, maintaining and adapting existing buildings, acquiring and selling land and property, and managing tenancies, leases and other agreements.

We are looking for 3 senior experienced Leaders to work within the Commercial team in Land and Property, each leading one of 3 functions; Commercial Investment, Acquisitions and Disposals and Income Generation.

As a member of the senior management team, you will have proven experience in delivering outcomes in a similar large and complex organisational environment and be able to identify and exploit opportunities for income generation and efficiencies from a property portfolio. You will be expected to work closely with colleagues across the functions and deputise for the Assistant Director – Commercial.

You will take responsibility for the day to day management of Commercial Investment, working at pace to deliver against a challenging programme of income targets, which in turn will help to fund the delivery of key front services. The work will be delivered through a ‘mixed economy’ of ‘in house’ directly managed projects and those that are managed by external agencies through partnering and framework contracting.

As the lead for significant and high profile projects, you will required to have not only a strong understanding of professional building related standards, but also the strategic direction of the County Council and an appreciation of the dependencies with other organisations.

The post requires strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to bring together key internal and external stakeholders to form an effective team and deliver results. Political acumen and an appreciation of the sensitive and changing environment in which the Council operates will be a key attribute.

If this sounds like you, please submit your CV and personal statement outlining how you meet the above criteria.
