FIXED TERM CONTRACT (12 MONTHS) Grade 8 
Applications Officer 
 
Wokingham Borough Council is based in Wokingham Town Centre are recruiting an experienced Applications Support Analyst on a full time 12 month Fixed Term Contract to work within the IT Department. The position is based at our Waterford House office in Wokingham. You will report directly to the Applications Team Leader 
 
The Applications Officer works with customers, Business Partners and applications suppliers to ensure a robust and reliable service is provided to the customer. In addition, they work closely with business colleagues to support improvements in how they do business, the information systems they rely on, and the technologies they need to deliver our Council outcomes. 
 
Key Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:- 
• Responsible for the support of line of business applications, including leading on issue resolution, application upgrades and change 
• Understand system functionality and potential opportunities, working closely with customers/3rd Party Suppliers to capitalise on technical trends and improve business process 
• Proactively engage with internal customers to ensure that vital business driven needs are addressed in a timely manner 
• As an ‘application’ expert, work with colleagues in the IT Department to regularly review documentation to support the internal customer’s ability to Self Serve 
 
Skills, Knowledge & Experience required:- 
• Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities to support the Council's applications portfolio 
• Experience of supporting system development, system upgrades and change management using numerous environments is essential 
• Experience of SQL server and SQL reporting 
• Excellent communication skills 
 
It would be great if you also have experience of:- 
• working with large and complex datasets 
• Experience of undertaking UAT 
• Experience/understanding of working with products such as iWorld, Mosaic, Agresso, Civica APP, Northgate Housing 
• Experience of working with business colleagues and associated stakeholder management skills 
• The ability to understand business requirements and translate these into potential technical deliverables
