Domestic Abuse Co-ordinator
Salary: Grade 8
Fixed Term for 6 months
We are looking for an experienced Domestic Abuse Co-ordinator to take the lead for Domestic Abuse (DA) and related issues such as violence against women and girls (VAWG).
You will be responsible for the development and promotion of community safety programmes and initiatives in partnership with Council departments, other statutory agencies, voluntary agencies and community groups to ensure that Domestic Abuse work reflects the priorities, aims and objectives set out locally.
A number of key pieces of work will need to be undertaken during the period of the contract. These include but are not limited to:
• Management /commissioning of a number of existing and new Domestic Violence Homicide Reviews and commissioned services
• Providing expert advice and input at a number of partnership meetings and case management panels.
• Developing training and awareness raising of issues relating to domestic abuse
• Planning and delivering partnership events.
• Updating partnership plans
• Maintaining records and answering enquiries
• Identifying and accessing new funding opportunities
• Producing and developing the council’s domestic abuse strategy.
You will be based within the Community Safety Team at Wokingham Borough Council and will have experience of contributing to the work of a busy, multi-agency team.
The Community Safety Team supports the Wokingham Community Safety Partnership Board, a partnership of key agencies within Wokingham, to deliver effective measures to reduce crime and fear of crime; and to promote public safety.
This post-holder will provide act as the Domestic Violence champion in the Borough and will co-ordinate and support the work of the multi-agency Domestic Violence Group and its sub-groups including the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) as well as the Thames Valley wide Domestic Abuse Co-ordinators Group.
You will also be the main point of contact and advice for queries from partners and voluntary sector agencies related to this field and will be required to lead on funding applications and project monitoring.
