Leaving Care Personal Adviser

Job Title: Leaving Care Personal Advisor (UASC)
Location: Stevenage
Salary Range: £25,481 progressing to £30,451 per annum
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Permanent

Job Duties

As a member of Hertfordshire’s Children Looked After & Care Leaver Service, you will be delivering a service to meet the needs of former asylum-seeking care leavers aged 18 to 25 years. As part of a supportive team you will support vulnerable young people who are leaving care and moving into adulthood.

Based in our Stevenage office, you will deliver high standards of pathway planning and support, raising young people’s aspirations, enabling them to make a successful transition to independent living, and supporting them once independent. Relationships with both Care Leavers and Partner Agencies will be at the centre of all the work that you do.

As the young person’s Personal Advisor, you will be case co-ordinating their pathway plan, ensuring the plan is completed with the young person and other partners and reviewed regularly. Key tasks include assisting with accommodation support, budgeting support and money management, developing life skills, supporting emotional wellbeing needs and assisting young people to access community-based support and resources. You will also work alongside other agencies in order to meet the needs of young people.

You will have experience of working with young people in care and/or care leavers and up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to the role.  This is an essential car user role, as some of the young people will live across the country.

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work with care leavers from diverse backgrounds with wide-ranging needs.
