We are interested in hearing from applicants who have experience of working with children and young people, their carer’s and families who would like to join our Children in Care and Care Leavers Team here at Halton.
The team is responsible for ensuring that all children in care and care leavers are supported to achieve positive outcomes and support them in planning to build their lives as young adults ready to leave care and live independently. The team is also responsible for finding permanent families for those children who cannot live within their birth family.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who wishes to work as a Senior Community Support Worker, working with children and young people alongside Social Workers, carers, parents and partner agencies to ensure that children and young people are safeguarded and supported to achieve their full potential. Within the role, you will be responsible for supervising and supporting Community Support Workers in the team along with the allocation of work. You will also hold a caseload working directly with children and young people.
The Community Support Workers within the team complete tasks such as one to one direct work with children, life story work, preparing children for adoption, this will include the completion of a Life Story Book, direct work with families around routines and boundaries and provide support and guidance for families within the local community. A significant part of the Community Support Worker role is supporting and supervising children and young people to spend time with their families.
To apply for this post you must be a qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Social Care or equivalent. A minimum of 3 GCSE’s or equivalent at grade C or above which includes Maths and English, or demonstrate the appropriate level or skills or experience. It would be advantageous if the successful candidate had experience of supervision, allocating work and motivating a team. In addition, this post is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
