Rough Sleeper Navigator

Are you seeking a fresh challenge? Do you want to make a real and lasting difference to the health and wellbeing of people who are sleeping rough?

We are looking for an exceptional team player who has the skills and qualities that are needed to transform and rebuild the lives of men and women who have been sleeping rough for a long time or are trapped in a cycle of repeat homelessness.

As part of our expanded Street Services Team, you will engage positively and persistently with rough sleepers to build their trust and help them to obtain housing, access medical treatment, undertake training, find employment, develop budgeting skills, access local support services and cultivate positive social circles.

Acting as their single point of contact until they have become settled in their permanent home, you will provide rough sleepers with a personalised package of flexible and responsive support (which will sometimes involve you accompanying them to appointments) that leaves them better equipped to maintain their accommodation and independence and avoid returning to the street.

To meet the requirements of this exciting role, you will have a passion for collaborative multi agency working, you will be an adept problem solver and you will have a proven ability to inspire and motivate people. An ability to speak Polish, Romanian, Albanian, Lithuanian, Latvian or Russian would be an advantage.

Ideally, you will have experience of working with, and advocating for, people who are sleeping rough, ex-offenders and/or people with substance misuse or mental health issues, and of attending and participating in multi-disciplinary case conferences.

These role are funded by the Government’s Rough Sleeping Initiative and are being offered as a fixed term contract opportunity until March 2021.
