Finance Analyst

Closing date: 30 October 2020 at 11.30pm

Are you an ambitious qualified or part-qualified accountant with a proven ability to provide technical finance support to a variety of internal stakeholders? Then join Shelter as a Finance Analyst and you could soon be playing an important role at the heart of our Financial Planning and Analysis team.

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change — with individuals, in communities, across society – and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

About the role
You’ll be a key member of the team that provides the charity with financial reporting, analysis, modelling and process improvement support, thus enabling us to better understand business performance and successfully deliver our organisational strategy. Day-to-day, we’ll rely on you to ensure that management receive accurate, reliable and timely information to enable decision making. You’ll also be responsible for empowering budget holders to successfully complete financial planning cycles, effectively manage business performance and safeguard resources. And when it comes to getting involved in the charity’s business case and bid kit process, again, we’ll count on you. In short, you’ll be part of a finance team that collaborates and communicates to ensure we deliver on our mission and vision, in a role that has scope to be offered on a permanent basis in the future.

About you
CCAB/CIMA (or overseas equivalent) qualified or part-qualified, you have excellent attention to detail and a high level of numeracy. You’re also a great time manager, with a proven ability to work to deadlines and prioritise multiple tasks when required. Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel (at intermediate level), Outlook and Word is also required, as is experience of using accounting software (we use Unit 4 Business World). Commercially aware, customer focused and driven to achieve results, you work well as part of a team, enjoy building a network of good relationships and are not afraid to apply creative thinking, challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas where appropriate.

Benefits
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
