Head of Curriculum & Standards - New Directions

Salary: £36,922 to £42,821 Per Year

New Directions College is Reading Borough Council’s Community Learning and Skills service.  This year we’re celebrating 62 years of Adult Learning in Reading. We’re a small friendly College delivering adult education and skills to over 3000 learners and Apprentices each year, directly and through our subcontractors and partners.  Ofsted judged the service as ‘Good’ in 2011, 2015 and 2019. 

Due to the recent promotion of the previous post holder to Principal, New Directions College is looking to appoint an outstanding Head of Curriculum & Standards to drive forward our education and skills offer to Adults across Reading and central Berkshire.

About The Role 

Leading our quality function and existing Skills for Life, Digital Skills and Skills for Work Curriculum areas, you will manage people and resources with the aim of delivering an outstanding level of education to our learners and employers.

You will have management experience within the post compulsory education sector, including adult Education, and of developing and delivering a responsive local learning offer and of raising standards. 

You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills that you have used to lead others and build partnerships. Critical to this role will be your working knowledge of the ESFA and AEB Funding rules and of delivering provision through a range of funding streams, including full cost recovery.

Of equal importance will be your experience of managing quality standards, including performance against key QAR indicators and internal protocols to judge the effectiveness of teaching, learning and assessment.
