Programme Manager (Digital Innovation and Transformation)

Due to contiued growth across our Business & Skills Directorate we have a unique opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Programme Manager to join our Innovation and Sector Development Team.

Know your backhaul from your access points?  Understand fixed and mobile communications technologies, all the way up the Gs?  Know what WiFi 6 brings?  Want to lead a programme of digital transformation across the West of England?  

We have the job for you.  Maximising synergies with our constituent local authorities and senior private sector stakeholders, you will convene WECA’s Smart Alliance in its strategic role of maximising green and inclusive economic impact of digital innovation and transformation on the region’s recovery and resilience building.  You will help shape a coherent and attractive digital landscape of the West of England as a smart region.

You will be WECA’s lead officer in delivering progress across the region against priority areas of digital infrastructure, digital business, digital skills, and digital culture and behaviours. You will reboot and chair the Smart Alliance, and generally drive and help shape the digital innovation and transformation agenda for the region. Homed within the Innovation and Sector Development Service Team and working closely with its Head of Service, you will be collaborating with a range of teams across the Authority as well as with the unitary authorities and major external stakeholders.  This high-profile role will allow you to maximise your existing networks and contacts. You will bring your extensive sector knowledge and experience to bear on the important challenge of creating a coherent digital transformation programme and narrative for the region, maximising impact of existing and new regional digital initiatives and attracting further digital investment, business and skills to the region.

This role is initially offered as a 2 year fixed term, interviews expected to take place virtually w/c 14th December.
