About North Somerset:
North Somerset is an attractive and largely rural local authority area which includes the popular coastal towns of Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon and Portishead. Its natural environment, which includes beautiful coastline and the stunning Mendip Hills, attracts visitors from throughout the surrounding area and beyond. Bordering with Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset (BANES) and Somerset, and with easy access from the M5, North Somerset is easily commutable from a wide range of nearby towns and cities, making it a highly desirable place to live or work.
You will work in close partnership with people with care and support needs, their families, carers and a range of multi-agency partners to undertake assessments of need to achieve desired and eligible outcomes. Working within key legislative frameworks including the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Mental Health Act 1983, you will make defensible decisions in partnership with people with care and support needs, supporting them to take positive risks in order to promote and balance their independence, safety and wellbeing.
We encourage applicants with previous experience or transferable skills working with adults with physical and sensory disabilities. You will work closely with community partners from a range of settings including health and care providers, 3rd Sector and voluntary sector agencies working towards sustainable support for service users in their own communities. Experience of working in an integrated team would be beneficial although not essential. You will need to be confident in Information technology skills including documentation in databases. This post will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check. A full driving license is essential.
You will have access to regular reflective supervision which empowers you to make evidence informed professional judgements drawing on the latest research, theories, legislation and policy frameworks. You will be given the freedom to practice in a truly strength-based way which recognises the importance of prevention and goes beyond traditional case management.
We are currently implementing training for all our social care staff to embed strength-based approaches and are members of Ripfa; providing every member of staff access to their resources.
