KS1 Teaching Assistant

Due to receiving additional funding, Oak View Academy are looking to appoint a caring, engaging and resourceful Teaching Assistant to support in Year 1 in the afternoons as soon as possible.  This position is a temporary position for 10 hours/week.

Why work for Oak View

Oak View Academy is based in a small town called Winsford. Situated between Liverpool, Manchester and Chester, we are in a prime location. Surrounded by beautiful rural landscape, we also have Delamere Forest on our doorstep. The town has recently received a lot of funding with local infrastructure being improved. We are also a short drive from the picturesque town of Northwich, which now has a major shopping complex with cinema and restaurants.

Our school has improved immeasurably over the last 5 years and we are incredibly proud of the progress made. In March 2017 we were graded as being a ‘good’ school through Ofsted. We have lower than average class sizes and our focus is on the wellbeing of the children we support as well as their education. We encompass a holistic approach to the curriculum and offer our students opportunities many other schools can’t. Our curriculum is more than just learning!

We are a warm and welcoming team. We have a well-established Senior Leadership Team who are understanding and caring, not only about our children but our staff. Our staff are given an additional day’s holiday for Birthdays which can be taken during term time. A good work life balance is fundamental to our staff’s well being and as a result our success.

As part of the North West Academies Trust we can offer fantastic opportunities for CPD and career development. Only recently our Deputy was appointed as Head at another school and we are always looking to promote from within when possible.

What we are looking for

We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant who is comfortable working both with individuals and groups in a Year 1 classroom.  You need to be able to work from a teacher’s planning and also be able to deliver appropriate intervention programmes to individuals and groups including Read Write Inc Phonics interventions. We would like a dynamic and creative teaching assistant who is willing to embrace school life and work hard to impact the mental and physical wellbeing, whilst supporting the children’s learning. We would also expect the successful applicant to support the class teacher.  A knowledge of Read Write Inc phonics and early reading development would be an advantage.

Due to the demographic of the school, some of our children show challenging behaviour from time to time. As such, someone with an understanding nature and good behaviour management skills is desirable. However, there is plenty of support in place from the senior leadership team. As a forward-thinking school, we also have a culture of continuous improvement. As a member of our team, any ideas you have will be welcomed, as we believe our staff are the most important element in us offering the best education for our children.

This is a fantastic time to join Oak View Academy. If you have any questions, please contact admin@oak-view-academy.co.uk   We also have a virtual tour of the school on our website.

To join us and be successful, you will need to:

  • Hold a L3 teaching assistant qualification
  • Be subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure, Overseas police check (if applicable) and professional references checks.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Have the ability to support vulnerable children and those with SEND.
  • Be willing to undertake additional training if necessary.
  • Be patient and resilient.

SCP 4 10 hrs over 5 afternoons (1-3pm)
