We are looking for enthusiastic and committed part-time telephone advisors to join our Customer Services team to deal with enquiries coming into our contact centre, provide guidance and information, and process customer requests covering a variety of services on behalf of the Council and its partners.
You will have recent experience of providing information and advice to the public in a busy customer service environment, preferably telephone based, and be capable of handling a range of situations with tact, diplomacy and empathy.
You will have excellent listening and communication skills, the ability to converse with all types of people, a polite and courteous attitude, and a commitment to providing excellent customer care. You will also be able to work well under pressure with a minimum of supervision while ensuring consistency and accuracy, and be proficient in the use of software systems, with good keyboard skills.
Experience of working in front-line council services would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be provided. The initial 4-week, full-time training programme will be largely office-based, but otherwise you will be mostly working from home until such time as the covid risk levels reduce, so will need to have a good wi-fi connection and a suitable quiet and private area to work from. Use of a spare room would be ideal but not essential.
You will be working to a fixed working pattern but will ideally be able to offer additional hours and some flexibility to help cover holidays and sickness if need be.
