Tourism and Economic Growth Apprentice

Fixed Term Contract up to 21 months

Are you ready to start a new career?

Are you excited to promote Newark and Sherwood as a destination and a location full of opportunity?

If the answer is yes, then read on for details of an exciting new apprenticeship opportunity working within our Economic Growth and Tourism Business Units.

We are looking for candidates who are confident using ICT, have experience of using a range of social media, ideally for marketing or engagement, and who will be able to provide administrative support across two teams. You must be adept at researching, be able to communicate professionally with a variety of stakeholders and, of course, have a genuine interest in promoting Newark and Sherwood to a range of audiences.

With GCSE English at 9-4, or equivalent, the successful candidate will be motivated to complete a Business Administration apprenticeship while also developing the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to be a success in this role.

Working across two teams will allow you to gain a wide range of experience and give you the opportunity to get involved in a variety of tasks including (but not limited to):

  • Providing a high level of administrative support including organising meetings and taking minutes
  • Acting as the first point of contact for enquiries from businesses and other stakeholders
  • Assisting with the collation, editing and writing of content for Newark and Sherwood’s visitor website and social media channels
  • Keeping accurate records and collecting relevant data
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of events
  • Supporting the delivery of projects.

In line with current restrictions, you will work from home where possible but there may be some requirement to attend Castle House to pick up equipment or for training where required. This will be organised in line with all Covid secure processes.

Veterans/family of forces/ex-forces, those in care/care leavers, and candidates who declare a disability (as defined under the Equality Act 2010) will be guaranteed an interview provided they have demonstrated that they meet the essential criteria of the post as detailed in the Person Specification on their application form.

For further information, or an informal discussion, please contact Richard Huthwaite on 07866 008748 or Neil Cuttell on 01636 655853.

Closing Date: 12 noon on Wednesday 9 December 2020

Interview Date: To be held over Microsoft Teams on 16 December 2020
