Housing Enabling Officer

Woking Borough Council is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Housing Enabling Officer to support the delivery of affordable homes across our Borough.

Working directly to the Strategic Housing and Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying housing need in the Borough and progressing suitable development opportunities. The post holder will focus on maximising affordable housing supply through the Planning System, working in partnership with developers, registered providers, Homes England, health and social care partners, and others to support the delivery of new affordable housing.

Alongside this, you will assist in the timely and accurate production of housing delivery and performance statistics for the Council, Government and other bodies and identify possible sources of funding to facilitate new affordable housing developments and projects.

With excellent communication skills, proven negotiation skills and a clear commitment to delivery, this is an exciting opportunity for the right person to contribute to meeting the housing needs of those living in the Borough.

The Council offers in return a generous flexi time scheme with the ability to take two flexi days a month, membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Jon Herbert, Strategic Housing and Development Manager, on 07458 054819.

Interview date: Wednesday, 6 January 2021 (interviews will take place virtually via Zoom).
