Strategic Estates Manager

The effective management of property and the estate function has always been a major contributor to the effectiveness of the NHS. It is also a major cost. In recent years the NHS sustainability and transformation planning has placed an increasing focus on the NHS estate in terms of suitability, sufficiency, condition, utilisation and enabling new, more agile, ways of working.

The amalgamation of Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest CCGs into WEL CCGs was accompanied by the establishment of a WEL estates team. The WEL Estates team plays a pivotal role in maximising the efficiency of the estate in use by the NHS in East London by coordinating with partners such as GP practices, NHS provider Trusts (Barts Health, ELFT and NELFT), the Local Authorities and the two NHS property companies (NHSPS and CHP). There is currently an opening in the team for a Strategic Estate Manager role.

This is a key position within the team and will have a lead role focused on a particular borough. There is a significant level of NHS capital investment planned for East London in the next few years and the role will play a part in ensuring that it achieves the best possible result. The projects range from the development of a number of new health centres to potentially relocating some hospital services into community settings.

Experience of and an interest in the following will be beneficial for applicants: client-side construction project management; property and asset management; and/or estates and facilities management. This is an exciting role in a dynamic environment and it will appeal to those keen to drive forward major capital projects to successful completion.
