Food Policy Coordinator

Job introduction

Do you want to work with our city’s creative, innovative and dynamic food sector – across the community and voluntary and private sectors?  And have the opportunity to collaborate with passionate and talented leaders in food?

The council is seeking to recruit a motivated and committed individual to lead on developing and delivering the city’s food goals. Working in partnership with a wider range of groups, businesses and individuals you will be responsible for developing food policy, initiatives to boost the food economy and action to tackle food poverty. You will have a wide reaching impact on the city including supporting our ambition to become Carbon Neutral by 2030, and realise the goals set out by the city’s Gold Sustainable Food Status.

About the role

You will be working collaboratively with colleagues across the council and relevant organisations across the city to make connections to deliver shared goals in relation to food policy. You will have the qualities to build effective relationships to make a real and sustainable difference, and to ensure action is targeted where it is most needed.

You will be able to challenge and influence through your reports, using evidence, research and best practice models from other partners and organisations in developing food policy and monitoring and reviewing impacts.

You will be passionate about sustainability and local food resilience, and  the impact local government can have on the communities we serve, and working with others towards reaching economic, health, environmental and social ambitions.

Right now, we are mainly working from home and can offer flexible working arrangements to suit your circumstances on an ongoing basis, as well as safe office accommodation if needed.
