Part Time Specialist Occupational Therapist
18.5hrs per week (hours negotiable)
Full time rate (37hours per week) up to £35,211pa (with possible progression to £42,988pa)

This is an interesting and challenging job share opportunity for an experienced OT to join our specialist services team and work with the adaptations and rehousing teams. We need a motivated and well organised professional to enhance the services provided to disabled persons in the Borough.
The section administers renovation grants and disabled facilities grants, as well as adaptations in our own council stock. There is an in-house Care and Repair service and a dedicated handyperson service.
You will carry out home assessments, order major adaptations, give expert advice on transfers, new build housing schemes and generally provide a source of expertise on disability issues. The annual budget is approximately £1,300,000 for adaptations.
Knowledge: Of social, medical and psychological models of Occupational Therapy in relation to children, adults and older people with disabilities Basic knowledge of house construction in relation to adaptations Working understanding of relevant legislation Good working knowledge of accessible environments High level of knowledge on adapting properties for disabled people Familiar with Schedules of Rates Experience: Providing a practical client-centered Housing Occupational Therapist service to disabled people and their carers, enabling them to achieve maximum independence and social integration, within Guildford Borough Council and Guildford Social Care policies. Demonstrating a high level of competence and skill in assessing disabled people’s needs, whether as assessment for adaptations in residential accommodation, or assessment of future housing need. The provision of services to a wide range of care groups, including children and adults with disabilities and individuals with complex needs.
An Enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate prior to appointment.
