Help us #BetheDifference for children and young people
Wirral is a great place to work. We are a supportive and nurturing council, committed to developing and progressing our social care workforce so that they can achieve their ambition and thrive.
Wirral children and young people are at the heart of everything we do. We want to make Wirral great for children and their families.
We’re delighted to have been chosen by the Department for Education to work on an exciting new ‘Social Worker in Schools’ programme, which will see social work and education work collaboratively to improve longer-term outcomes for children and young people across Wirral.
To help us deliver and drive this, Wirral Children’s Services are looking for a social worker to work within one of Wirral's secondary schools, becoming integrated in the school environment while still developing close and supportive working relationships with colleagues in social care.
The role provides an opportunity to become part of an integrated multi-agency team, bringing together social care and education practitioners to find solutions to reduce referral rates - along with the overarching aim of reducing the number of children in care improving educational attainment.
By joining our team in Wirral, you will be part of a supportive and nurturing organisation which is committed to developing and progressing our social care workforce so that they can achieve their ambition and thrive in their profession.
Whilst the project will run over a fixed term, we are guaranteeing permanent postions for those who wish to be part of this journey.
If you share our values and ambition, then we want you to join us on this exciting journey, to make a difference and ensure brighter futures for chidren and young people across Wirral

More about Social Workers in Schools Project:
The COVID-19 crisis has demonstrated that close connected working with schools and educational establishments was vital to support vulnerable children in attending school and keeping them safe.
The programme will build on the strong relationships our existing teams have with schools to improve outcomes for our children and young people.
This project provides an opportunity to build a framework of support for children in schools, working proactively and collaboratively to reduce the need for social care escalation. It is hoped that this will also promote better inter-agency working between schools and the children’s social care system.
