More Information

LADO, IRO & Child Protection Chair

Are you an ambitious social worker who wants to be part of a forward thinking, innovative Council? Rutland Children's Social Care is a great place to practice social work. We are investing our time and energy into the implementation of the Signs of Safety as our preferred methodology. In Rutland, we’re committed and responsive in a way that many other authorities can only dream of.

About the role…..

The LADO/IRO/CP Chair role is a key role and is highly valued by senior management in Rutland and by the front line practitioners you will work very closely with. As Independent Reviewing Officer & Child Protection Chair, you will contribute to the development and quality assurance of service standards for Looked After Children and children subject to Child Protection Plans. As LADO you will coordinate the investigations of child protection allegations against professionals, and conduct regular inspections of fieldwork services to ensure statutory requirements are met, making recommendations for action. You will chair Child Protection Conferences, and rigorously monitor and track individual care and permanency planning.

About you….

  • A qualified Social Worker with SWE registration
  • Have substantial experience of working with Looked After Children, including legal proceedings
  • Have extensive knowledge and understanding of legislation and guidance relating to looked After Children and Safeguarding.

We’re looking for a dynamic individual - someone who can think innovatively and is up to date with current research and practice. Confident in the role and in your personal authority, you will understand your responsibilities to monitor and review the child’s case and, where necessary, challenge poor practice.

The successful applicant for these posts will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

The cost of the DBS and the Social Work England registration is paid by us.
