A vacancy has arisen for an Information Governance and Casework Officer to work as part of a small legal services team, responsible for a number of key functions: legal advice, information governance, risk management, internal audit and other compliance matters.
The Information Governance and Casework Officer's role is to provide proactive support in the areas of data protection, freedom of information and information and records management activity, processing requests made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Data Protection legislation as well as managing the register of requests and keeping the University's publication scheme up to date. You will also be involved with more in depth matters such as GDPR compliance, records management, privacy impact assessments, data breaches, information sharing agreements, advising colleagues internally on information governance matters, providing specialist technical advice and ensuring that relevant University policies and procedures are fit for purpose, effective and compliant with legislation.
This role will involve liaison across the University with colleagues at all levels including attending and minuting committee meetings, delivering training, and writing policies and procedures. Consequently you will need to have excellent written and communication skills, an eye for detail and a creative, can do attitude.
In addition to the information governance, you will also undertake routine casework as directed to expand knowledge and experience within the Legal Services Team. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate looking to widen their remit of skills and knowledge.
