Environmental Protection Technician

We are looking for a very keen, well organised, meticulous and highly motivated individual to join our Environmental Protection Team. The post is temporary for a 12 month period. 

As a member of our small multi-disciplinary team you will be involved in a wide range of service areas. This includes complaints of noise and other nuisances such as light and odour; hoarders, bonfires, pest complaints and drainage issues.  At times you may be asked to assist in the licensing of businesses that fall within scope for a range of animal activities including boarding establishments, dog breeding, riding establishments, pet sales and animals being kept and trained for exhibition.  In additional to this is the licensing of dangerous wild animals and the zoo within the borough.  

The team is committed to providing an excellent service to our residents, the business community and our partners. We are seeking a candidate with excellent skills in communication, prioritising and planning, as well as excellent IT skills. It is essential you have a ‘can do’ work attitude, be self-motivated and willing to get involved in different work streams and take initiative. You must be able to take responsibility for a varied caseload and be committed to team working. 

The successful candidate would ideally hold a relevant Environmental Health or Protection Qualification i.e. BTEC or Diploma. Alternatively, they must have a good standard of general education to A level, or equivalent qualification. A full current driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
