We are looking for a cook!!

We at Drove Road are looking for a new cook to join our team.

Please apply if you can plan, order and prepare varied and nutritious meals for a number of young people and staff.

Drove Road is an 8 bedded residential service who provide a mixture of short breaks and full-time placements for children and young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour between the ages of 8 and 18.

Working Week: Sunday – Thursday 11am - 6pm

About the role

Our dedicated team of staff works hard to create a positive, safe, stimulating and homely environment in which each young person’s specific needs are met as well as being supported to develop and learn new skills whilst having fun.

We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference, is looking for an exciting role, the freedom to plan and source food to develop a nutritious and well balanced menu, excellent knowledge and practice of food safety guidelines, experience of managing a budget, logging purchases, VAT and transactions online,  the want to help the team to promote the independence, choice, and rights of the young people, to work closely with the young people’s Lead Support Workers, build strong relationships and enable them to prepare food in a safe working environment.

Our kitchen is not separate from the rest of the home, it is accessed by staff and young people throughout the day.

Our cook will be fully involved in the day to day lives of the young people and staff team.

Due to this, having some experience of working with or a good knowledge of learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour is vital as this role will need to work around the ever-changing needs of the young people.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
